Get into the coastal holiday spirit with a weekend filled with fun down at Wrightsville Beach, NC during the 34th Holiday Flotilla. Festivities for the 2017 Holiday Flotilla begin Friday November 24 at 5:30pm down at the Wrightsville Beach Town Hall with the annual Tree Lighting Ceremony and Santa. At 7:30, folks can head over to the Blockade Runner and enjoy hors d’oeuvres, a fully stocked cash bar, silent auction, and dance the night away to live music. The Embers featuring Craig Woolard will be performing to get people in the holiday spirit! Tickets cost $35 per person and can be purchased here.
Festivities continue Saturday with The Festival in the Park, running from 10am - 4pm. The festival has an area for children, including several inflatable slides and bounce houses, a coloring contest, and the Arab Choo Choo, festival food, and more. The Festival will also feature over 100 art and craft vendors and an antique car show!
The popular boat parade begins at 6pm on November 25, and will follow with a firework show! The length of the boat parade will vary deepening on the number of boats entered. There are 8 prize categories that boats will compete in, ranging from Best in Show to Best Costume and Crew Spirit. There are a number of vantage points along the parade route where onlookers can watch the boat parade. The points include Banks Channel, the two South Harbor Island mini parks, or the west side of Waynick Blvd. Judges will be located at the Blockade Runner Beach Resort.
This year’s flotilla has an extra special theme honoring one of Flotilla’s late consecutive winner and long time supporter, Paula Sturdy. The boat with the best Wrightsville Beach theme will be awarded with the Paula Sturdy Award, $1,000.
